This month, we're going to focus on an up and coming electronica band from the D.C. area called Boole. Be on the look out for them in the near future. Their self-titled independent release is sure to please...

Boole has been around in one form or another since 1990. If you were in Maryland around that time you may have known them as The Apologizers, a project seemingly designed to test the boundaries of both sanity and legal noise limits in a non-industrial area. After completing his formal education, lead singer BrOd moved to Baltimore and formed George Boole and the Toggles a band run along similar lines. This name was eventually shortened to just Boole.

Boole is the kind of band that doesn't really care who likes them so long as they are having fun and enjoy what they create. That said, the music on this album is very, very good. It takes a couple of run-throughs to really get what the album is about but the more you play it, the more hidden depths are exposed. The album has some real highlights on it including the opening pair "Disco Vampyre" and "Kraftjob". The quirkiest track has to be "Giant Robots" which features a shameless sample from a 70's sitcom theme tune that had this reviewer rolling on the floor. This is the sort of album that really makes you want to crank up the volume to its edge and dance your ass off.

Expect to see more from the relatively young group, especially given the quality of this their first release. Get this album.
